Nail Restoration Q & A

Why do I need nail restoration?

Nail restoration is a modern solution for promoting healthy nail growth and reshaping your nails. Your podiatrist may recommend nail restoration with the KeryFlex® system to resolve any of the following issues:

  • Thickened nails
  • Distorted nail shapes
  • Brittle or crumbly nails
  • Yellow or discolored nails

In many cases, KeryFlex nail restoration is included as part of a nail fungus treatment plan, although it’s also beneficial for nail defects, injury, and trauma.

How does nail restoration work?

Nail restoration with KeryFlex is a painless treatment performed right in the office at Apple Podiatry Group.

During your nail-restoration visit, your dedicated podiatrist applies a clinical-grade resin material to your nail. They use a specialized light to help the resin harden and bond to your nail.

Once the resin hardens, your podiatrist uses a buffing tool to smooth and shape your nails one by one. The specialized KeryFlex composite resin is nonporous and flexible, so your natural nail grows and heals underneath.

When will I have results with nail restoration?

Not only does nail restoration with KeryFlex provide immediate cosmetic improvements, but you can also even continue getting many of your regular nail services. Nail polish, acetone, and even detergents are safe to use after a nail-restoration treatment.

Because KeryFlex nail restoration becomes permanently bonded to your natural nail, it’s important to only use nail files to reshape your nails, rather than clipping your nails. Cutting or clipping can cause your KeryFlex nail to split.

How often do I need nail restoration?

Even though you experience immediate benefits with your nail-restoration treatment at Apple Podiatry Group, your nails continue to grow. Your podiatrist may recommend coming in about every 6-8 weeks for a KeryFlex nail-restoration treatment.

An entire KeryFlex nail-restoration service takes about 15-30 minutes, depending on how many nails you have treated. So when it’s time to come back in for another treatment, you can easily schedule a visit during your lunch break.

You can restore your beautiful, healthy nails with in-office KeryFlex treatments at Apple Podiatry Group. Book your nail-restoration appointment either online or over the phone today.
